The Challenge

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most common workplace injury and cause of disability, early retirement and limitations to gainful employment. They cost employers billions each year in lost productivity, worker compensation, turnover and the ability to attract new talent. For the workers who suffer from them, MSDs don't just go away at the end of the shift, they prevent people from living their fullest lives. And, because jobs with greater MSD hazards are disproportionately occupied by low-wage workers and communities of color, MSDs compound problems of inequity.

The Solution

After the National Safety Council and Amazon entered into a historic partnership to address MSDs, Meteorite created with them the MSD Pledge. Launched in June 2022, the MSD Pledge is a first-of-its-kind industry call to action to reduce injury risks and prevent MSDs. Its ambitious goal: reduce workplace MSD risks and injuries by 25% by 2025, bringing relief to millions of workers. Designed for business, the Pledge has created a movement of employers committed to sharing ergonomic solutions and cutting edge insights, strengthening their safety culture and enhancing the wellbeing of their workers. Backed by Meteorite-led resources and events, the Pledge represents a new and comprehensive approach to a pervasive problem for workers and industry.
